A set of seat rails and brackets to mount GMC seats in the Ranchero. Only one whole morning and two and a half evenings of fiddling later.

Kinja'd!!!

Why was I working on that instead of... having a floor? Well, the seats have to mount a very specific way, very close to the tunnel, and there’s a second latch on the left one that might interfere with my sheet metal. I needed to fit the seats first. ¯__¯

I would post pictures, but my phone needs to be unclogged first.

You’re this much closer to being able to take a seat.

Trufax: I already have had the seat dumped in the car on top of the support box and have positioned tuchas therein. I just didn’t have the slides and brackets ready.

No, actually I have invisible arms. Like Homestar Runner.

Let’s be honest here. You’re much more like Homsar in every way.

What kind of GMC seats are we talking about here?

GMC Envoy. Very similar to these, in two-tone brownish light gray and dark gray. Not a huge fan of the headrests, but I can take them off. Otherwise, they’re a good bench-out-of-two-buckets compromise and don’t look two far out of place.

Kinja'd!!!

They fold like this:

Which is kind of nice to be able to get behind the seats. I adapted the original seat slides from my truck and the seat slides from a ‘68 F600 so that they can be adjusted fore-aft as well as recline.

Hooray!

I figured you’d appreciate the strangeness of that gif, which I found when looking up “hooray gif.” ^_^

I don’t know what’s going on that gif, but I think I like it!

Impressive and you are right they don't look out of place. And I assmme you probably got them for a steal compared to the orginal cost of Ranchero seats.

I have my original bench, but the springs of the spring frame are rusted, the frame itself has surface rust, the fabric over the springs is half-rotted, the connection for the middle hinges in the middle of the seat is messed up, the plastic trim for the side-braces is cracked and decayed, and the vinyl is faded, beginning to crack, and turning weird. Even worse, I’d have to drill holes to mount them to my new seat box at all. I paid $70 for that row *and* a third row seat I may pass on to CalzoneGolem.

Right? It's trippy, but somehow adorable. :)

As with most things of this nature, Japan is probably to blame.

That's a steal for what is likely more comfortable anyway. It's nice to have the original though if you ever want to go back to stock.
